*I recommend ,especially for Backpackers, Khaosan Road. Because of the good price and It's quite safe for the foreigner. Moreover, This road is connected to the places I recommend to go to visit when you come to Bangkok.

How to come to Khaosan Road from the Suvarnabhumi Airport.
There is a direct bus to Khao San Road from the airport, and the journey takes around an hour. The air-conditioned AE2 bus takes passengers to the top of Khao San Road for 150 baht.
there are also small local buses that complete the journey for just 35 baht.
If you travel in a group may find it more economical and convenient to catch a taxi from the booth outside the main entrance. The fare should cost around 350 in total, including a small charge to cover the toll way tax.
(All air-conditioned taxis in Bangkok are supposed to use the meter, which starts at 35 baht.)
There are a number of tuk-tuk drivers on Khao San Road who offer to take tourists on a trip around the city for just 20 baht.
*Places you must visit
If you are staying on Khaosan Road, there are temples I recommend in the immediate
area you can visit by walking , taxi or bus.
Wat Saket - the Golden Mount วัดสะเก็ด
You can walk to the Golden Mount from Khao San Road. Simply walk to the
Gulliver's end and follow the road round to the right. You will now be on
Ratchadamnoen Klang, a busy main road, with Democracy Monument in the center.
Walk straight down the road and as you pass McDonald's on your right you will
see the Golden Mount up ahead.
Wat Arun - the Temple of Dawn วัดอรุณ
Wat Arun is open daily from 8:30 - 5:30.admission is just 50 baht for
foreigners.

Let's party on Khaosan road!
Khao San Road is knowned as one of the best places for nightlife. You can find many good pubs, restaurants and plenty of cocktail bar to sit and enjoy very strong cocktail and sheisha.
I don't support you to drink until being unconscious. Just drink but not to be drunk like crazy.
Enjoy life!! Take care:)
I recommend you to enjoy Thai massage and spa and to buy some handmade clothes and souvenirs with a very reasonable price and also try fried noodles Thai style called "Pad thai".
